DEFINITION OF CELLS



                 After Hooke discovered the small rooms in a sliced cork and applied the name “cell” in 1676, Antonie
          Van Leeuwenhoek invented additional lenses to study smaller organisms. He named these smaller organisms
          as microorganisms. Later, Matthias Jakob Schleiden and Theodor Schwann stated that “cells are the basic
          unit of organisms.” The knowledge about cells has been expanded ever since. What are some of the cells
          you are familiar with, what are their characteristics and can they be seen without a microscope and how?
